Positive Reinforcement

Once you have started your change process and you have bulldozed the road blocks that were standing in your way; the most important thing is to continue to reinforce the change. Habits can be really hard to break or to create. Reinforcement is the key at this stage. It can be as simple as telling yourself, “I got this!”Even when it may feel a little bumpy.  There is power in speaking positive words of affirmation. What you say can manifest your thoughts over a given situation. Positive words bring life and hope to the situation or in this case the change you are working to implement.

Another way to positively reinforce your change is to surround yourself with people who are cheering you on and speaking life into you. Those same people might also be your accountability partners. It is always good to have people in your corner that will call you out (in love), when you have started to slip back into old habits or mindsets. Just as a coach speaks to a player on the field—with course correction to achieve the ultimate goal—the same is true for your circle of influence. Who’s in your cheering section? And how are you reinforcing your change this week?
